Good evening to all !!!

Dear Very Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Kuttiyil O.I.C, the Provincial Superior and the Manager, Our most Hon. Chief Guest Padmasri Madhu sir, Shri. G. Alexander, the PTA president, Rev. Fr. Blessen George O.I.C, the Vice Principal and the Bursar, dear Rev. Fathers and Sisters, Staff-members, PTA Executive members, Parents, beloved students and well-wishers of the school; especially our former students:

First of all, I very sincerely offer a warm welcome to all of you. As you know, Mar Ivanios Bethany School was started on this beautiful landscape of Kalayapuram with a small building and a few students in 2001. Within the last 15 years, it has grown up to be a great institution with around 2000 students and a vast infra-structure including smart-classes, well-set laboratories and libraries. Every year a good number of students go out with flying colours. I congratulate all the students, staff, parents and PTA Executive members, who are responsible for such great achievements.

In keeping with the primary custom of annual reporting, may I now present to you, our school activities and achievements throughout the year 2015-16, highlighting only the significant events.

  1. Academic Excellence: – In order to enhance the academic excellence, we prepare our students for various scholarships, tests and competitive exams. During 2014-15, our school had achieved exceptional success for Xth and XIIth classes.

  1. Staff:– According to the great Greek Philosopher Protagoras, ‘Man is the measure of all things’. I am proud to state that we have enriched the quality of learning through a team of well experienced and competent faculty.

  2. PTA: We have a strong PTA with 12 executive members and 10 teachers. Mr. G. Alexander is the P.T.A President and Mr. Venu is the Vice President.

  3. Awareness Programmes and Orientation Classes: We conduct awareness programmes and orientation classes for students, teachers and parents for overcoming the challenges of the Modern World.

  1. Scholarships: For developing the academic skills of our students, we prepare them for various scholarship exams like D.C.L, P.C.M, IAIS, Sugama Hindi, Kinnari Kids and Quiz competitions etc.

II. Celebrations:

Re-opening Day: The school re-opened on 1 June, 2015. The function was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Alexander Koikkalethu of Kalayapuram Malankara Catholic Church.

World Environment Day: On the World Environment Day, we have planted trees, distributed plant lings and seeds to children and removed all waste from our school.

We also have a good herbal and vegetable garden with more than 500 medicinal plants, trees and other plants.

Vayanavaram: We have conducted Vayanavaram from 19 to 24th June and also held various literary activities connected with it.

Investiture Ceremony: It was held on 26th June and Rev. Fr. Alexander Thomas of Marthoma Church of Kalayapuram inaugurated and presented the ceremonial distribution of Badges.

Anti-Drugs Day: On 30th June, Mr. Benny Lal, the Circle Inspector of Kottarakkara, inaugurated the Anti-drugs Day. He delivered a very informative speech which has created a good responsiveness in our students about the use of drugs.

Sargotsav: It was inaugurated by the famous Poet and music composer Shri. Allepy Renganath on 13th August 2015. Our students have actively participated in 5 categories and they have proved their excellence in the co-curricular activities. The Yellow House won the overall trophy in Arts competition.

Onam Celebrations: was held on 21st August and inaugurated by the well-known magician Shri. Samraj. After the magic show, various cultural programmes were conducted to entertain our students.

Teacher’s Day: Teacher’s day was celebrated in a colourful and ceremonial manner.

CTSC Fest and State Kalostav: This year we have won a golden plume on our cap. Our participants got first prizes with A-Grade and a few got Second prizes with A-Grade. Sreedhar Ganesh of our school got first prize with A grade in Bharatanatyam and second prize with A grade in Folkdance and Ashish Alex got ‘A’ grade for Essay writing in English in the State level. I congratulate all of them.

Children’s Day: Children’s day Celebration was inaugurated by Mr. Joby Mathew, the International Arm Wrestling champion of India. His sharing was inspiring and motivating to our students.

Christmas Celebration: The X’mas celebration was inaugurated by Most Rev. Yoohannan Mar Chrysostom, the Bishop of Pathanamthitta. The celebration was made colourful and rejoicing.

Club Activities: The club activities conducted in the school catered to the all-round developments of the students. There are 5 clubs functioning in our school; Maths Club, Science Club, Literary Club, Eco Club and Computer club.

III. Study-Tour: The students from KG to XII std visited many places of interest like Green Valley-Adoor, Wonderla-Kochi, Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills-Bangalore, Magic Planet-Thiruvanthapuram etc. We have taken our students to visit warships in Kollam Port in connection with Navy Week. All these trips were entertaining as well stirring in all the sense.

IV. Charity and Social Works: As part of Charity collection entitled “Snehasparsam” organized by our staff and students, we were able to purchase useful things like fridges; wheel chairs etc and also collected an amount of about 3 lakhs. These kinds of items were given to different orphanages, old -age-houses, slums and colonies.

During Onam, we visited Kanjiramvila colony at Perumkulam in Mylom Panchayat, where Shri. Chittayam Gopakumar, Adoor MLA, distributed 3 kits each costing Rs.3000/- to more than 75 families. Thus, we celebrated Onam with the poor.

During X’mas, we visited Asha Bhavan at Pidavoor -a shelter for 67 physically challenged children, and distributed useful items like soap, toothpaste, detergent articles, cloths etc. and donated an amount of Rs.10,000/- and provided a great X’mas feast to all of them.

V. Sports: We have a concrete base in the field of sports and Games. We have conducted competitions like cricket, throw ball, foot ball etc. in our school, under 4 categories and the winners were awarded trophies.

In the District level throw ball competitions, both our Boys and Girls team have won the championship. They represented Kollam district in the State level tournament also, which boosted the morale of our students.

The School sports day was held on 8th January 2016. It was inaugurated by Mr. Anildas, DYSP of Kottarakara, by lighting the Torch. The Green House won the overall trophy.

All Kerala MIBS Football Tournament: To commemorate Mr. Jacob John, our late professor, our school started an All Kerala Football Tournament 3 years back. This year 20 schools participated in the tournament and winners were awarded with trophy and cash prize by the chief guest Mr. Pannyan Raveendran, Ex. MP, in the presence of Former Kerala Santhosh Trophy Team Captains Mr. Jean Christian and Mr. Kannan.


I would like to place on record our sincere gratitude to Very Rev. Fr. Geevarghes Kuttiyil OIC, the Provincial Superior and all the Provincial council members for their guidance and blessings. A special thanks to Padmashri Madhu sir for your graceful presence and for spending your precious time with us. I offer my heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Blessen George OIC, the Vice Principal and the Bursar, who is behind all the activities of our school. At this juncture, I gratefully remember all the previous Administrators, Principals and Bursars, whose dedicated service enriched this institution and I specially remember Rev. Fr. Jacob Dayanand OIC, the former Principal. I extend my profound admiration and appreciation to the members of teaching and non-teaching staff, Office staff and the PTA members and our former students. My sincere thanks go to my students for their kind hearted support, involvement and commitment in developing our institution.

We have started this journey with great hopes, yet, we have miles to go before our goals are achieved. We pray for lasting blessings from the almighty God to face the challenges and grow from strength to strength.

Expecting the kind co-operation and blessings of all of you in future, also.
